Eco bedroom: How to create a space that Is good for your sleep and the planet
On 22 April we celebrate International Earth Day. It is a perfect moment to look at the bedroom – the place where we spend roughly one third of our lives – through an environmental lens. Are the materials our bedding and blankets are made from truly good for us and for the planet?
Why do bedroom materials matter for sleep?
Synthetic fabrics (polyester, acrylic) are less effective at wicking moisture and heat, which can cause overheating during the night – one of the main causes of sudden wake-ups. Research published in the Journal of Thermal Biology confirms that natural cotton and linen fibres regulate the bed microclimate much more effectively.
5 principles of an eco bedroom
- → Natural fabrics – choose bedding made from organic cotton (GOTS certified) or linen. They are breathable, durable, and produced without harmful pesticides.
- → Reduce plastic – avoid blankets filled with polyester pellets or microfibre, which can release microplastics into the environment.
- → Quality over quantity – choose durable products over seasonal ones. Investing in quality means consuming fewer resources over time.
- → Natural ventilation – ventilate your bedroom regularly rather than using aerosol air fresheners, as textile fibres absorb synthetic VOCs.
- → Conscious lighting – use LED lighting with a warm colour temperature (2700 K). It saves energy and reduces blue light exposure before bed.

Glass microbeads vs. plastic pellets
Blanket filling is an often-overlooked aspect. Pandreamora blankets use glass microbeads instead of plastic polyester pellets. This is an ecological difference that significantly impacts sleep quality: glass beads are quieter (no rustling), distribute weight more evenly, and do not generate static electricity.
Weighted Blanket – Comfort (Waffle Cotton)
Waffle cotton + glass microbeads = a conscious choice for the environment and your sleep. Natural fabric, durable construction, and no plastic filling. The ideal choice for Earth Day – and every day after.
