Night sweats and weighted blankets: Sleeping cooler.

It is two in the morning. You wake up drenched in sweat, your heart racing, and your thoughts take off before you can stop them. Outside it is July – still warm long after dark. If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. Sleep disruption affects most women going through menopause, and summer only makes it worse.

The first instinct is often to give up on any cover at all in this heat. That is where the misunderstanding starts. The problem is not the cover itself but the type. A thick, non-breathable duvet really does trap heat, but a well-chosen weighted blanket works differently.

Why pressure helps, even in the heat

Even, gentle pressure – what we call deep touch pressure – sends your nervous system a signal of safety. That is the mechanism that helps quiet the two-in-the-morning racing thoughts. The blanket does not magically lower your body temperature, but it can help break the loop of sweating, waking, tension and an even harder time falling back asleep.

Fabric and weight are the key

Two things matter. First, breathability. Our blankets use cotton poplin covers at 150 g/m², a thin, smooth, airy fabric that wicks moisture better than heavy polyesters. The fill is glass microspheres, which spread evenly and do not store heat the way plastic pellets do.

Second, weight. In summer it is worth choosing the lower end of the recommended range, roughly around 10% of body weight. A lighter blanket gives that soothing feeling without extra warmth. If you are torn between two weights, check our weight calculator or message us and we will help.

Menopause is not an illness to cure but a stage you can move through more calmly. Many of our customers tell us that the combination of breathable fabric and gentle pressure made the biggest difference.

Calmer nights start with smaller decisions

A few things that genuinely help with night sweats in summer:

  • Cool the bedroom Lower the temperature to 18–21°C before bed – air it out in the evening, not only in the morning.
  • Cotton against the skin Choose pyjamas and bedding made exclusively from natural, breathable fibres.
  • Light weighted blanket Opt for gentle pressure without overheating instead of giving up on covers entirely.
  • Wind-down ritual Establish a steady 30–60 minutes of relaxation directly before turning off the lights.

We proudly sew our products locally in Łódź and ship via InPost. And if the blanket turns out not to be what you needed – you have a full 14 days from delivery to return it.
